Marcus Atom + Cosmic Jaywalkers + DJ Jivefresh!
Marcus Atom sings with his chest. Eschewing the falsetto that defines much of contemporary R&B, Marcus stands out immediately—this is a different style, one that works in tandem with the honesty of his songwriting. Years in the making, his debut LP Love vs. War is a heartfelt album that draws on traditional and contemporary R&B, Chicago’s rich hip-hop scene, gospel, and alt-rock.
The Cosmic Jaywalkers are a Chicago-based ensemble with an eclectic array of influences. Their sax-laden, celestial sounds are born from a fusion of multiple genres including hip-hop, R&B, funk, and rock that pays tribute to the time honored traditions of jazz with brilliant improvisational passages and soulful harmonies.
