UK band Project Blackbird, led by former Specials horn player Jon Read, was on their first US tour this summer. Quiet Pterodactyl helped bring them to Chicago, along with Senegal native (and now Chicago based) Tukkiman co-headlining the show with his blend of mixture of Afrobeats, Reggae, Hip Hop, and Pop, and DJ Larry Miller on decks.

Gerald Bailey celebrated the release of his album ‘Migration Climate’ at Broken Shaker with Quin Kirchner (drums) and Daniel Van Duerm (keys), and DJs Mo Manley, Kyle Hodges and Cam Hodges.

Quiet Pterodactyl worked with the Andersonville Chamber on the live music for 6 stages for the 57th year of this annual street festival, including:

In celebration of Black History Month, QP curated a popup art exhibit at The Bar at Hotel Zachary for the Brown & Balanced + Diageo bar takeover. Event featured emerging black guest bartenders, specially curated cocktails, and a vinyl DJ. Ticket price included a welcome cocktail and special tastings from black-owned beverage companies Moors Beer, Alexander James Whiskey, Bayab Gin and Vusa Voka. Displaying artists included Pugs Atomz, S.Rose, Ennis Martin, Naimah, and Jason Jackson.

SMASHED PLASTIC: LIVE VOL. 1 is a one day festival showcasing Chicago’s independent artists & record labels that we are so proud to work with. Taking place at WORKSHOP 4200 in a converted loading dock stage, this fest included 14+ live bands and DJs, a record fair featuring over 20 local record labels, food vendors, local craft brews and ciders, and a Cannabis Sponsor Village. Bands included Ono, Fire-Toolz, Bev Rage & the Drinks, Tar, Rookie, Serengeti, and Pixel Grip. Proceeds from beverage sales went to Quiet Pterodactyl.

QP teams up with the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce and Rattleback Records to create Andersonville Homecoming, a three-night, two-day outdoor festival to the neighborhood. Produced by Star Events, the fest features live entertainment, local artisans and merchants, food and drink vendors, free kids’ activities and more! QP’s main role was booking the 2 Main Stages and DJ Tent, as well as help the Fest run smoothly, from setup, artist relation, overcoming production hurdles, and more. QP & friends also created and set up 3D digital projections Sat & Sun night to enhance the dance area by the DJ tent.

MAY 2021
Quiet Pterodactyl funds and releases artist Justice Hill’s “Outta This” 3-song 12” Maxi-single on vinyl.

MAY 2021
Situation Chicago 2: QP recruits 15 more bands/artists for another vinyl release (10 on vinyl plus 5 bonus tracks for the digital release). Proceeds from this record go to the CIVL SAVE Emergency Relief Fund, powered by The Giving Back Fund, giving need-based grants to furloughed Staff, local Artists and VEnues via need-based grants in the Chicagoland area.

JANUARY 2021
Quiet Pterodactyl teamed up with School of Rock Andersonville and band Hood Smoke to record a video cover version (with SoR kids) of Hood Smoke’s “Seneca Lake” which was also featured on the Situation Chicago album. Watch the video here.

DECEMBER 2020 – JUNE 2021
Quiet Pterodactyl announces a series of limited, one month offerings of merch (T-shirts, hoodies, etc) in the Quiet Pterodactyl Artist Shop on Threadless.com featuring long closed, but still beloved, Chicago bars and venues. With blessing from former owners, we hope the music-loving public will be enamored by the opportunity to purchase images that spark fond memories of fun nights from the past. This unique tie-in of historical venues supporting currently struggling ones represents the true sense of community that exists only in Chicago culture. These releases include merch from Double Door, Rodan, Sonotheque, darkroom, and Lava Lounge.

NOVEMBER 2020
Dark Matter Coffee releases Situation Chicago branded cold brew coffee cans featuring original cover art by Chadwick. All sales go towards the Situation Chicago project to benefit our venues.

JULY 2020
Situation Chicago releases as a record project QP organized consisting of 25 bands/artists who came together to support 25 of Chicago’s live music venues who were closed indefinitely during the early stages of the pandemic. The double LP was pressed locally at Smashed Plastic and supported by local sponsors – Smashed Plastic, Revolution Brewing, Malort/CH Distillery, Dark Matter Coffee, and Nature’s Grace & Wellness – so not only was it a completely Chicago project, but with upfront costs covered, 100% of record sales will be split between the venues to help them survive.

Quiet Pterodactyl launches “On a Tuesday: a Night of Chicago Music” at one of our favorite neighborhood joints, Ludlow Liquors. Tuesday nights Quiet Pterodactyl and Chef Mickey Neely are hosted a Listening Party for Chicago based music. All genres, past & present, full albums, 100% Chicago.

Quiet Pterodactyl held it’s first official Fundraiser and Launch Party at jazz-renowned venue Constellation. Featuring trio performances from Dan Bitney, LeRoy Bach, & Dustin Laurenzi, and Jeremy Cunningham, Macie Stewart, & Lane Beckstrom, plus a silent auction.
